HarvaDig – Forestry Excavator Conversion
Features
The HarvaDig Forestry Excavator system is Excavator based, converting standard excavators into forestry harvesting machines, whilst keeping their potential for other more typical plant tasks.
The Harvadig from Jas P Wilson. It’s over 10 years since we built our first zero tail swing 14T harvester and came up with the name for this versatile little machine.
Commonly based on 14 tonne zero tail swing machines, which are often up to 110-120HP. We then carry out a specialist conversion of the hydraulic, electrical and guarding systems.

We’ve designed this system to be the perfect choice for the smaller contractor, who would see the advantage gained through the versatility on offer. We see the shift in trends and do our best to listen to the demands of our customers and use them to find ways of making these machines even more useful. Nowadays we are regularly supplying machines with a number of different attachments that can all be changed easily without fuss. Suitable implements include Harvesting heads (SP Heads or Keto Heads available), mulchers and stump grinders (FAE available), buckets, timber grapples (Botex available), cone splitters (Lasco available), Tree Shears (JAK available), post knockers, winches, brash rakes… the list is endless.
Don’t get us wrong, if you need a beast of a machine to hammer through huge clear-fells producing 100’s of tonnes a day, then a purpose built is the answer, but for versatility, there really is nothing better. Please download the Forestry Excavator PDF leaflet on this page and call us for a chat to see what a machine like this can do for you!
Although excavator based harvesters have been on the go for years now, the HarvaDig name and concept began serious development by Jas P Wilson in 2009. After receiving a request for a simple and relatively small excavator based machine, we started to investigate different excavator and harvesting head combinations.
The client also asked about the possibility of a demountable head which would allow the excavator to carry out normal digger work or work with other attachments. As the harvester would be working in tight areas and thinnings we realised a zero tail swing would be the preferred option. A 14 tonne machine was purchased and fitted up with a Keto 150LD harvesting head for trials.
