3D Scanning Case Study: SANY SY155U Excavator HarvaDig Conversion
Having never designed/ built a guarding kit onto a SANY Excavator before, this was an ideal job for our 3D Scanner.
Being both the largest machine we have scanned and first project to go through the scanning process that required a design from scratch, getting a high detail large scale scan allowed for accurate measurement of our track guides, initial design ideas to be drawn up using a 3D image of the machine, and ultimately an assembly of our guard kit built onto the scan.
Positioning the boom was a point of interest for this scan. The decision was made to scan with the boom all the way up and with it sitting down. Allowing design team to see how far back on the cab it reaches.
