3D Scanning Case Study: VALTRA G-series G125 Forestry Guarding Kit

Something a bit different compared to the usual T and N series Botex Guarding Kits. This G Series required a detailed large-scale scan to aid in the redesign/ fitting of a previous G Series guarding kit design. Gaining accurate dimensions allows the design team to analyse if any of the general sizing need to be adjusted.

Focus was placed on gaining a view of the machine with and without wheels and the front-end weight blocks. This allows the design team to toggle the visibility of these scan features to see behind them, but also toggle them back on and ensure nothing faults etc.

It was a substantial benefit to get this underside view of the tractor. Comparing that to the “scanner-less” method of hand measuring and an element of taking estimates, to being able to see a 3D, detailed view of the underside of the machine is a game changer.
