3D Scanning Case Study: VALTRA T174 Roof Mount
The project objective was to provide a full 3D scan of a VALTRA T174 to aid in the design and fitting of a BOTEX roof mount kit.
This was completed to provide a final scan package, to aid in the identification of key locations for necessary mounting points, which were highlighted and accurately dimensioned to assist the design department.
Our scanning software allows for the creation of reference geometry that can aid in the improvement of design. Below, a stacked cross section helped form a plate that fits and follows the shape of this section of the machine.
Once processed, the scan and reference geometry are imported into our CAD software and the design team can fit their roof-mount model, inspect if there are any clearance issues and tweak any aspects of the design.
The scan and design files together confirmed a precise and suitable fit of the frame, prior to fabrication starting, which allows for this next stage to progress as speed, without issues or wastage. It also helped plan where to make other modifications on the tractor, which ultimately improves the overall finish and timescale of the project.
